The Supreme Court, on Monday, fixed 7th of February, 2014 for judgement on the consolidation of appeals seeking to disqualify Celestine Omehia as a party in the case involving Governor Rotimi Amaechi of Rivers State.
The apex court adjourned the matter after taking arguments from the parties involved.
Counsel to Rivers State Governor, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN) argued that since Celestine Omehia had benefited from the lower court, his matter in the Supreme court should be struck out.
He also argued that Omehia could not be joined in the case due to time constraint.
On his part, Nnorukwo Udechuckwu (SAN) said they were no longer comfortable with the manner the case was going.
He lamented that the tenure of Governor Amaechi would be almost over by the time the matter resumes in February.
Meanwhile, President of a socio-political group in Rivers State, the Rivers State Leadership Advancement Forum (RIVLEAF), Alex Wele has hailed the court.
Wele and other pro-Amaechi campaigners also expressed optimism on the positive outcome of the matter.
