Gowon, who is also the patron of the Bible Society of Nigeria (BSN), made the appeal at the Annual Luncheon and Awards of the society in Lagos.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the luncheon was entitled: “Individual accountability in service“.

He commended those who supported the Bible translation, publishing, distribution and funding.

“The Bible Society of Nigeria has put our hands on the plough and will not look back until Nigeria is saturated with the scriptures.

“At the moment, complete bible is available in 20 Nigerian languages, the New Testament in 60 languages, “ he said.

Deputy Gov. of Lagos, Mrs Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, commended the society for its efforts to circulate the scriptures, adding that it had helped to improve governance and nation building.

Orelope-Adefulire said it had also helped to mould individuals in terms of accountability, honesty and dedication to duties.
